Founded in 1985, International Alert is an international peace-building non-governmental organization working in over 25 countries worldwide. Its headquarters are in London, England, and another office at The Hague in the Netherlands. It boasts of over 250 staff working in their London office and the regions where they operate. Their core mission is to prevent and resolve internal conflicts without violence within a country and find sustainable and inclusive solutions by bringing communities in conflict to resolve their differences without violence. They work with people directly affected by violent clashes to find the root causes and lasting solutions to conflicts.

They believe that countries that practice laws which don’t tolerate any form of violence, a country with fair and equal access to the basic needs, and equal opportunity to work regardless of gender and ethnic differences is a peaceful country. They also advise companies, governments, and International Organizations on how their operations and policies can better support peace. It takes different stakeholders and a long time to achieve peace, but it happens.
